Safety is paramount in train operations: SCR GM

Hyderabad: South Central Railway General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav undertook an intensive review of safety and punctuality of the trains on the zone.

All the Sr. Divisional Operations Managers and Sr. Divisional Commercial Managers of 6 Divisions on South Central Railway viz., Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded attended the review meeting held on Friday at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad.

The General Manager emphasized that safety is paramount to train operations and all steps have to be taken to avoid unsafe incidents in train working. Punctuality of trains has to be given utmost importance and all efforts should be made to run trains on time.

He also reviewed the punctuality position of express and passenger services on the Zone and at Divisional level. He suggested that the future plans should be finalized quickly, keeping the future growth of traffic.

Vinod Kumar Yadav advised the officials that integrated block working is a must for asset maintenance especially of the track. He congratulated Vijayawada Division for its excellent work in March, 2017.

Sharper focus on non-fare revenue and quick finalization of tenders is a must to get good results he added.

The General Manager stressed on passenger amenities such as Pay and Use Toilets in stations. He issued instructions to ensure quality of food served on trains by regular inspections of base kitchens and the need to have a systematic approach to improve food quality.

He advised the officers to concentrate on freight loading from the beginning of the fiscal so as to meet the targets set for the year.
