Congress delegation meets Guv seeking CBI probe into land scam

Hyderabad: Led by TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, a delegation of Congress leaeders called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Thursday seeking CBI probe into Miyapur land scam.

In their 5-page memorandum, the Congress leaders alleged that 693 Acres of government land in Survey Nos. 100, 101, 20 and 28, were fraudently sold to private parties.

Alleging that many top politicians belonging to the ruling TRS and officials of Chief Minister’s Office too were involved in the Rs. 15,000 crore scam, they said that the irregularities were highly grave in nature and therefore, should be probed only by the Central agency.

They also alleged that 50 acres of government land in Hafizpur of Ibrahimpatnam were registered in the name of family members of TRS Secretary General K. Keshav Rao.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also described the review meetings held by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on the land scam as mere eye wash and an attempt to shield the guilty.

They also questioned the presence of Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha in the CM’s review meeting on land irregularities that took place in Medchal district.

The TPCC chief alleged out that present TRS Government has hushed up several important scams in the past which includes Votes for Note, Phone Tapping, EAMCET-2 paper leakage, etc.,

Therefore, he said the present CID enquiry ordered by the Chief Minister was bound to meet the same fate as of earlier scams. Further, he said by making a statement that not a single yard of government land was lost, the Chief Minister tried to give clean chit to everyone even before the investigations began.

He said Miyapur land scam was just the tip of an iceberg of huge political corruption by TRS Government.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also said that the TRS Government has failed to act against encroachments on Wakf properties.

He said that the Governor should immediately intervene to ensure CBI probe into all the irregularities and also to protect government lands by deploying CRPF battalions on open lands.

He also demanded that the S.K. Sinha Report on encroachments on government lands to be made public.

Leaders of Opposition K. Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Council), Rajya Sabha MP M.K. Khan, MLAs Dr. J. Geetha Reddy and T. Rammohan Reddy, MLCs Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and T. Santosh Reddy, ex-minister P. Sabitha Indira Reddy and other leaders were part of the delegation. (INN)
