Met Dept predicts above normal rainfall in Telangana next week

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) has predicted above normal rainfall in all 31 districts of Telangana State during next from 17th to 23rd June.

“Based on the Weather Model run at TSDPS of Planning Department and other available numerical guidance from National Centers (IMD and other centers), it indicates that, with the prevailing active monsoon conditions over the state,

above normal rainfall activity is likely to continue during the next one week over the State,” the TSDPS predicted on Friday adding that there might be light to moderate rainfall at a few places with possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places.

In the last week (from 10th to 16th June) monsoon remained active during the last one week over Telangana state. Above normal rainfall received over most parts of the state during the week with moderate to heavy rain occurred at many places over north and central parts of the state.

Telangnaa State continued with excess Monsoon rains with seasonal rainfall being surplus by 62%. Out of 584 Manadals: 68% of Mandals (400) received excess to large excess, 17% of Mandals (99) received normal, 15% of Mandals (62) received deficit and 4% of Mandals (23) received large deficit rainfall up to 15th June.

The highest rainfall of 147mm recorded at Kuntala (Nirmal) on 16th June during the week. (INN)
