TRS MP asks Railway Board to expedite TS projects

Hyderabad: TRS MP B. Vinod called on Railway Board chairman A.K. Mittal in New Delhi on Tuesday and urged him to sanction new projects for Telangana State while expediting the existing ones.

Vinod demanded that the frequency of express train from Karimnagar-Tirupati be increased from twice a week to daily. Similarly, he said Secunderabad-Nagpur Express and Secunderabad-Patna Express should be halted at Jamikunta Railway Station in Karimnagar.

Speaking to media persons later, Vinod said Telangana MPs have made several representations to the Railway seeking various facilities for the new State.

However, he said that the Railway did not respond properly and the proposals were being rejected citing one or the other technical reasons.

He said people were being subjected to inconvenience to prevent losses for the Railways. He asked Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu to think of giving more facilities to common people than giving priority to profitability for railways. (INN)
