Jobless youth, students will dethrone TRS Govt: Uttam

Tandur: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that students and unemployed youth of Telangana would dethrone TRS Government in next elections.

He was speaking after flagging off a massive students’ padayatra organised by National Students Union of India (NSUI) from Tandur to Shamshabad on the slogan “My Hostel My Right” on Tuesday to highlight the poor State of SC, ST, BC and Minorities hostels across the State.

The event was also addressed by NSUI National President Feiroz Khan, TS President B. Venkat and other leaders.

“Students and jobless youth had very high expectations from Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao after the formation of Telangana State as he had made many attractive promises with them during the decade-long statehood movement.

However, both students and unemployed youth faced disappointment due to failure of TRS Government in fulfilling any of the promises made to them,” said Uttam Kumar Reddy said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy reminded that KCR had promised “Free, Compulsory, English Medium and Global Standard education from all Telangana students from KG to PG.”

He said in KCR’s own words “poorest children and his own grand children should get same level of education in Telangana State.” However, he said of nearly 60 lakh students from KG to PG levels, not even 1% of students in the State benefited from the so-called KG to PG scheme.

He said despite creating a hype, the TRS Government was unable to provide free education to even 60,000 students in Gurukuls and other residential institutions. “What happened to your promise of KG to PG free education?” he asked the Chief Minister.

The TPCC chief has accused the Chief Minister of creating chaos in entire education system, especially from intermediate to PG levels. He said that the TRS Government wilfully neglected the implementation of Fee Reimbursement scheme and did not clear dues to private colleges on time thus sabotaging the quality of education.

“Hundreds of private colleges with lakhs of students were unable to pay salaries to lecturers and other staff. They were also unable to maintain their laboratories, libraries and other infrastructure. With an annual budget of Rs. 1.49 lakh crore, why the TRS Government was unable to clear Fee Reimbursement dues on time?” he asked.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the number of engineering seats got reduced since the formation of Telangana. “What does this indicate?” he asked adding that seats in several other professional courses too got decreased under TRS rule.

Similarly, he said unemployed youth were highly disappointed with the TRS Government. “Having promised one job for every household, KCR failed to create even one job for every village. Instead of creating ‘Bangaru Telangana’, KCR created ‘Bangaru Kutumbam’ (golden family) by creating four jobs in his own household,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said unemployed youth is the most disappointed and angry section of the Telangana society under KCR rule as the Chief Minister has not only failed to create new jobs, but also failed to fill the existing vacancies in various government departments.

“Seeing enthusiastic response in Tandur today, I can predict that students and unemployed youth will throw out TRS out of power in next election,” he said.

Stating that Congress party would come to power in 2019, he said the Congress Government would focus on creation of lakhs of new jobs for the youth. Further, he promised that all jobless youth would be paid an allowance of Rs. 3,000 per month till they get a job. (INN)
