Hyderabad: Vice President of India M.Venkaiah Naidu recalled his long association with the city of Hyderabad and described it as ‘Mini India’.
Addressing the Civic Reception hosted by Telangana Government at Raj Bhavan on Monday, Venkaiah Naidu said although he was born in Nellore and got education in Visakhapatnam, his grew politically in Hyderabad.
He said Hyderabad is also having rich culture and food as it is home to people belonging to all the religions and regions who celebrate all festivals like Ramzan, Bakrid, Moharrum, Bonalu, Dassera etc., He said Hyderabadi Biryani and Haleem are famous all over the world.
He said he is closely attached to Hyderabad and Telangana since 1970 and knows almost each and every location and village of Telangana and their people.
Venkaiah Naidu said that the people of Telangana have a rich history of struggle since several centuries. They fought against Nizam and Rajakaars for the freedom, participated in armed struggle for the lands for poor and also struggled for statehood.
The Vice-President said that the Telugu language used in Telangana is simple and lauded Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao who uses the Telugu language in simple manner. He suggested that Telugu language should be given importance in school education although he is not opposing English.
He said in both the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Telugu should be made compulsory and administration has to be run in Telugu language so that the common people living here can understand it.
Venkaiah Naidu advised both the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to sit, discuss and resolve the contentious issues and other day-to-day problems.
Though the State is divided for administrative purpose and for development of their region, but the people of both the States are not divided and their heart is one.
Governor E.S.L. Narsimhan, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Deputy Chief Ministers Mohd. Mahmood Ali and Kadiam Srihari, Council Chairman Swamy Goud and Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudan Chary felicitated Venkaiah Naidu by presenting him with shawl and memento on his first time to Hyderabad after assuming charge of as the Vice-President of India. (INN)
