Model buildings for 300 Anganwadi Centres in TS soon: Tummala

Hyderabad: Minister for Women and Child Welfare Tummala Nageshwara Rao on Monday informed that model buildings would be constructed for 300 Anganwadi Centres in 10 backward districts of Telangana State.

The buildings will be constructed by Vedanta Foundation, as part of its agreement with the Central Government for construction of 4,000 buildings in 11 States.

Addressing a review meeting with the senior officials at the Telangana Secretariat today, the minister said that the construction of buildings would begin immediately after the identification of land.

He directed the officials to complete the process for identification of land and handover the same to Vedanta Foundation within 15 days. He said each Model Anganwadi building would be spread across 704 sft. He also asked the officials to shift Anganwadi Centres, operating in rented buildings, to own buildings.

The minister also informed that the Anganwadi Teachers, who have completed 60 years of age, would be offered a one-time settlement scheme of Rs. 60,000 for Teachers and Rs. 30,000 for ‘Aayas’. He asked the officials to take steps to fill vacancies in all Anganwadi Centres. (INN)
