Harish Rao briefs Gadkari on TS irrigation projects

Hyderabad: Telangana Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao called on Union Minister for Water Resources Nithin Gadkari in New Delhi on Thursday.

Harish Rao briefed the Union Minister about various irrigation projects being constructed by the Telangana Government. He gave details about Kaleshwaram Project, Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and modernisation of Sriram Sagar Project.

He said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was keen on proper utilisation of Godavari and Krishna River waters and therefore, took up construction of several irrigation projects.

He also informed Gadkari that the State Government has revived thousands of lakes and tanks during the last three years under Mission Kakatiya. He said that the scheme not only helped in tapping the rain water, but also increased the levels of ground water.

Briefing the Union Minister on Mission Bhagiratha, Harish Rao said all households in Telangana State were being provided tapped water supply.

Harish Rao, who was accompanied with TRS MP Jithender Reddy, requested Gadkari to release more funds for Telangana and expedite all pending projects.

The Union Minister assured that he would soon convene a meeting with top officials to take a decision on pending proposals. (INN)
