Telangana is on top in farmers’ welfare: Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday claimed that Telangana was the only State in the country to provide 24-hour power supply and input subsidy to farmers.

Speaking after inaugurating Central Lighting System in Siddipet, Harish Rao said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has been taking several measures for the welfare of farmers in the State.

He said crop loans of Rs. 17,000 crore were waived off to fulfill the electoral promise. Further, he said quality power supply was being provided to farmers on 24×7 basis. He said input subsidy of Rs. 8,000 crore per acre would be given annually to all the farmers.

Harish Rao strongly defended the constitution of Farmers’ Coordination Committees and said the government wants to distribute the input subsidy among farmers by putting in place a strong and transparent system. He said that the ongoing land survey was initiated to implement the input subsidy scheme.

The minister condemned the opposition parties for their criticism on TRS Government and accused them of causing obstructions in the development of Telangana State. (INN)
