Congress regimes neglected irrigation in Telangana: Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao alleged that the previous Congress regimes completely neglected the irrigation sector in Telangana.

He was speaking after inaugurating the modernisation of Paleru Old Canal at Paleru in Khammam, Palemvagu project at Venkatapuram in Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Kinnerasani Left Main Canal at Anjanapuram in Bhadradri Kothagudem on Monday. Roads and Buildings Minister Thummala Nageshwara Rao was also present.

Addressing a public meeting at Kasumanchi later, Harish Rao said that the previous Congress regimes only laid the foundation stones for as many as 34 projects in Telangana.

However, no measures were taken to complete those projects. He alleged that the Jala Yagnam scheme launched by previous Congress Government was turned into ‘Dhana Yagnam’ which made Congress leaders rich.

Harish Rao said that immediately after coming to power, TRS Government gave priority to completion of pending irrigation projects which are now providing water for thousands of acres of lands. (INN)
