Telangana CS stresses on better utilisation of 14th FC funds

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary S.P. Singh on Thursday held a high-level meeting to review the utilisation of funds of 14th Finance Commission.

The meeting, held at Telangana Secretariat, was attended by Special Chief Secretary Ajay Mishra, Principal Secretaries K. Ramakrishna (Finance) and Vikas Raj (Panchayat Raj), Secretaries Parthasarathy, Sandeep Kumar Sultania and other senior officials.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Secretary said basic amenities would be provided in villages from the funds given to Gram Panchayats by the 14th Finance Commission. They will also be used for tasks like cleanliness, solid waste management and installation of LED lights.

He directed the officials to frame guidelines for the utilisation of funds. He said higher allocation should be made for important works. He asked them to give priority to Haritha Haram and Solar Light schemes.

The Chief Secretary said of Rs. 1,953 crore allocated during 2015-16, nearly Rs. 1,441 crore have been spent. The officials informed him that the Telangana State was likely to receive a grant of Rs. 5,375 crore from the Central Government for a five-year period. (INN)
