Media Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament begins in Hyderabad on March 3

Hyderabad media persons’ first ever T20 tournament, Media Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament (MPL) has started out at Vijay Anand Ground in Rajendranagar yesterday.

Former Ranji Player Habib Khan inaugurated the tournament with a cake cutting ceremony, while attending as Chief Guest for the first day of the tournament. He met with the teams available at the match venue.

Talking about the tournament at cup launching ceremony, MPL President Mohd. Asif Ali, who is a known journalist in the city and News Head at Ruby Channel, said 17 teams are participating in MPL.

“MPL will provide the Cricket Dresses and other necessary items when and as required”, said MPL organizer Shaik Ahmed in a press statement.

“It will be knockout basis tournament and best teams will go to Semis and Final. The knockout matches will be played from March 3rd on Vijay Anand Cricket Ground, Rajendranagar whereas Final Match will be played on 12th of March on Lal Bahadur Stadium,” he added.

“Every match has a man of the match, whereas after the final MPL will choose the Man of the Tournament, best bowler, best batsman awards. Winner team will get the Winner’s Trophy.”

MPL Details

First Day: In the first match played between Bharat Today and Press Club, Bharat Today defeated Press Club. In second match, TV5 channel won against I-News, while in third match ABN won against Sakshi.

Second Day matches will be played on March 4, while third day matches will be played on March 7. We will update readers with further details, as we receive it.

Bonanza for Players

MPL organizer Shaik Ahmed also informed that best players from the tournament will be sponsored an international tour to a city in Gulf.

“Moreover one of our Sponsor Oubler has offered an international tour of 16 best Players to the city of Saudi Arabia called Jeddah after the completion of the Tournament.” he said.

According to MPL, a team of best 16 players will get a chance to play in the overseas cricket tournaments. Approximately 2 weeks tour is expected.
