Dr. MCR HRD Institute and ISB join hands to train Civil Servant Trainees

Hyderabad: Over 200 officers of All India Services and Central Civil Services, who are undergoing 92nd Foundation Course at Dr. MCR HRD Institute of Telangana, had a two-day attachment at the Indian School of Business (ISB).

As a part of this, a number of globally-acclaimed faculty members of the ISB addressed the Officer Trainees on such themes as Mindful Leadership, Digital Transformation in Public Governance, Data Needs for Development, Urbanisation & Smart Cities, and Capacity Building initiatives by ISB in Government, Monitoring & Evaluation of Government Schemes.

Special Chief Secretary to Government & DG, Dr. MCR HRD Institute B P Acharya, in the Valedictory Function, underlined the importance of learning and perfecting contemporary management skills, irrespective of the services to which they belong, in order to emerge as effective leaders.

He said that the ISB Attachment is a first-of-its-kind initiative for any foundation course for All India Services and Central Civil Services Officers in the country and expressed hope that this will set a precedent for future.
Dr.Sripada Chandrasekhar, Professor & Executive Director, Centre for Human Capital & Leadership Initiative, ISB said that the ISB has been contributing to the multifaceted development of the country through its innovative interventions in the fields of education, training, research, and consultancy.

He said that the mind-boggling changes that have taken place in the profile of employees in Government sector calls for corresponding changes in the leadership styles of the Civil Servants.

He called upon the trainee Civil Servants to adopt servant leadership in order to fulfil the dynamic aspirations of different stakeholders,

Dr. Chandra Chowdhury, Executive Director-MIGM& Professor of Operations Management & Information Systems, ISB said that while Government, Businesses, and academic institutions are important in their own right, citizens are the most important stakeholders in the implementation of the projects for conceptualisation and execution of smart cities.

He presented case studies of Singapore, Chandigarh, and Amaravati to highlight the challenges relating to urbanization and smart cities.

Professor Ashwin Chhatre, Visiting Professor in Economics & Public Policy, ISB said that while the data relating to different issues in available in abundance, its use in taking important decisions leaves much to be desired.

He advised the Civil Servant Trainees to use the data as extensively as possible in order to improve the quality of their decisions.

Dr. Prashant Gupta, Principal Director-R & D & Cloud Computing, Microsoft India, Dr.Tarun Jain, Assistant Professor, Economics & Public Policy, ISB and Krishna Kodali, Head, Centre for Executive Education also spoke in the technical and valedictory sessions.

Mamtha Reddy, Head – Government & Public Sector at the Centre for Executive Education, ISB conceptualized and led the two day programme delivery including the Valedictory Function. (INN)
