Our schools are designed to produce obedient slaves: Mirza Yawar Baig

Modern education institutions have come under severe scrutiny of educationists and academicians in recent years, especially after rapid commercialization taking over the sector.

Prominent educator Mirza Yawar Baig took serious note of educational institutions and teaching practices that were following industrial spirit.

“Our schools are designed to produce obedient slaves”, Mr Baig opined while delivering a talk in Educate2Elevate, a national conference organized by Muslim Education Society (MES) in Hyderabad.

He explained that a boy or girl graduated at 10th standard after studying for 15 years could not live independently even for one month.

“After 15 years of schooling for which you paid, for which child pays…prepares our children for nothing,” the Islamic scholar observed.

Talking about future of education, he said Artificial Intelligence (AI) would revolutionize how education is done.

There would be no teachers, no fee, and students would learn at home on their own using self-made custom syllabus.

“The teachers will be out of job, provided they upgrade themselves”, he revealed while adding that those teachers who would answer questions on ethical and moral dilemmas and teach values would be
relevant.
