Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has directed the insurance companies to clear crop insurance claims of Khariff 2016 by November 25. They were also directed to clear claims of Rabi 2016-17 by November 30.
Agriculture Department Secretary C. Prathasarathy held a meeting with the representatives of insurance companies at the Secretariat on Monday and expressed anger over the delay in clearing crop insurance claims. He also said that some cheques issued by insurance companies to farmers have bounds.
Therefore, he asked the insurance companies to coordinate with Mandal Agriculture Officers and bankers to transfer the insurance amount directly to the farmers’ accounts. (INN)
