America’s declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel invited widespread criticism from across the world. In a call of solidarity on #HandsOffJerusalem citizens in Hyderabad staged a protest today.
Hundreds of associates of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) marched in the crowded areas of Mehdipatnam in the city to condemn the move of the US President Donald Trump.
The organization termed the decision of recognizing the Holy city of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital as violative of international treaties and could shake the peace-starved region.
Speaking on the occasion, SIO Telangana president Laeeq Ahmed Khan reiterated the sacredness of Jerusalem and called Trump and allies to keep #HandsOffJerusalem.
“By announcing to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem, Donald Trump has put the world peace in great peril,” Mr. Khan opined.
“At this moment, I would like to thank and congratulate the member countries of the UNO who refused to endorse and approve the declaration.
“I would like to thank particularly the EU, OIC and the Pope Rev. Pope Francis who maintained a just position and refused to toe the US lines,” he added.
The holy land of Al Quds is revered not only by Jews, but also Christians and Muslims. Therefore, any attempt to change the status quo of the land would provoke millions across the world.
