CWC happy with Kaleshwaram Project works

Hyderabad: The Central Water Commission has expressed satisfaction over the progress of works of Kaleshwaram Project.

Calling the Kaleshwaram Project as historic, the CWC said it was the most comprehensive project in the country. Speaking to media persons after inspecting the works, CWC officials addressed a press conference at Jal Soudha and said Kaleshwaram Project was being constructed on international standards and it was one-of-its-kind.

CWC Project Approval Department’s Chief Engineer C.L.K. Das said Kaleshwaram was a multi-purpose project which links various other projects like Mid-Maniar and SRSP.

Das said tha the pace of construction works and structural design of the project were quite impresive. He said the project would irrigate about 18 lakh acres of land and an ayacut of 18 lakh acres could be added later. He hoped that the project would be completed as per its schedule.

CWC Hydrology Director N. Nandrai said Kaleshwaram Project would benefit crores of farmers and would play a major role in the country’s growth.

Other directors of CWC, Kaleshwaram Project’s Chief Engineers N. Venkateshwarlu and Hari Ram and other senior officials were also present on the occasion. (INN)
