‘Qurrah’ for selection of Telangana’s Haj pilgrims tomorrow

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Haj Committee will conduct ‘Qurrah’ (Draw of lots) for selection of pilgrims for Haj 2018 on Thursday.

According to Telangana State Haj Committee Special Officer Prof S A Shukoor, the Haj Committee of India has allotted a quota of quota of 4,066 for Telangana.

Of them, 508 applications were received under Reserved Category A (of 70+ years old applicants). He said the selection of remaining 3,558 pilgrims would be done through ‘Qurrah’.

A total of 16,662 intending pilgrims have applied for Haj 2018. They include 10,606 applications from Hyderabad alone.

The Haj quota allotted by the HCI has been distributed among 31 districts as per their Muslim population. While Hyderabad has been allotted the highest 1390 seats, Jayashankar Bhupalpally got lowest six seats.

Qurrah (Draw of Lots) for selection of pilgrims from Telangana will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Haj House, Nampally. Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali will be the Chief Guest while MP, MLA and MLC concerned will also attend the event. (INN)
