KCR has failed to pressurise Modi Govt on Telangana Bill’s promises: Uttam

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has failed to pressurise BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre to honour the promises made with Telangana State in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.

In an informal chat with media persons at Gandhi Bhavan to mark the fourth anniversary of passing of Telangana Bill in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS Government has utterly failed in pressurising the Centre to honour the promises of setting of a Steel Plant, Railway Coach Factory, AIIMS and other assurances made in the APRA.

He alleged that KCR had no courage to confront Prime Minister Narender Modi over injustices being done to Telangana State. He said that the Chief Minister was resorting to self-praise after making a hollow representation with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during his recent visit to Delhi.

Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that Telangana has emerged on top in the country in irregularities, corruption and debts. He said that the TRS Government has achieved notoriety for suppressing the fundamental rights of citizens. He said jobless youth were neither provided employment nor were they allowed to even register their protest.

He said undemocratic means were adopted to crush the voice of opposition parties and other groups.

He said that the TRS Government has failed to fulfil even a single promise it made with the people. He said KCR is the only Chief Minister in the country who does not come to the Secretariat.

Stating that TRS Government would be presenting its last budget next month, he demanded that sufficient funds be allocated to provide promised three acres of land for each Dalit family.

The TPCC chief said that the Congress High Command feels that elections might be held by this year end. Therefore, he said that the party cadre has been kept on active mode. He also announced that the Congress party would contest from all 119 Assembly seats in Telangana and it would also field its candidates against MIM party.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said efforts were being made to conduct unanimous elections for the DCC Presidents. He said he would consult party leaders in Telangana and also Congress president Rahul Gandhi in this regard. He said that Rahul Gandhi has assured to give larger representation to youth in the AICC.

Speaking about ‘Praja Chaitanya Yatra’ to be launched from February 26 at Chevella, he said that the decision to take out bus yatra was taken after consulting all leaders in the State.

He said that the bus yatra was aimed at re-establishing Congress party’s contact with women, youth, farmers and students. He said leaders and workers of different political parties would join the Congress party during the bus yatra. (INN)
