KCR advises GHMC corporators to plant saplings, safeguard ‘cosmopolitan’ culture

Telangana chief minister KCR advised corporators of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to safeguard cosmopolitan culture of Hyderabad, and also plant saplings.

“Ours is a cosmopolitan city. We need to safeguard its culture and maintain it,” said KCR while inaugurating GHMC corporators training classes program in Pragathi Hotel yesterday.

He asked coporators to plant saplings in their respective divisions as part of Telanganku Haritha Haram drive, and inform citizens of their responsibility to nurture it.

Further, KCR assured of Rs. 1 Crore special grant from the chief minister for those divisions that sustain at least 90% of planted saplings. He also asked for inclusion of 50% women in working committees at division levels.

“People want their problems to be solved; if that’s done, they will treat you like god-like figures,” KCR informed a houseful of corporators.

He also asked them to go on a visit to neighboring state of Maharashtra to learn how civic things are managed there.

When you provide 24 hours water, uninterrupted power supply, proper waste management, straight jerk-less roads, super traffic-less junctions, and green parks then why people will vote to others than you, reasoned KCR.

“I won from Siddipet for 7-8 times. I never gave a single rupee in my life to [voters to] vote for me. No. Not even a drop of liquor,” said the chief minister.

“I didn’t do canvassing in my constituency. Yet I won… We should not run away from public problem. We should run towards the problem,” he said while sharing his experience of public service in his constituency.

The inaugural function program was attended by Deputy CM Mohammed Ali, Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, IT Minister KT Ramarao, GHMC Mayor Rambabu, GHMC deputy mayor Baba Fasihuddin, ministers, and corporators.
