Shabbir Ali slams KCR for skipping Dr. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary celebrations

Hyderabad: Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir today accused Chief Minister K. Chanderashekar Rao of insulting Dr. B. R. Ambedkar by not attending his 127 th Birth anniversary celebrations on Saturday. He demanded that KCR tender an unconditional apology for the same.

Shabbir Ali said while the entire nation paid tributes to the Father of the Constitution, KCR, who come to power on the ‘deceptive declaration’ that he would make a Dalit as CM, was cozily sitting in his five star office.

“KCR should apologise to the nation as he failed to even pay floral tributes to Ambedkar’s Statue and also did not attend a seminar organized on this occasion in the State capital,” he said.

Addressing a press conference, along with former minister D. Sridhar Babu, at Gandhi Bhavan Shabbir Ali said that Dr. Ambedkar had visualized reservations not just for SC/ST but also for BCs and Muslims so that all communities could grow at equal pace in the country.

But for the opposition of some vested interest then there would have been special category of reservations for Muslims long ago as proposed by Dr Ambedkar, he said.

Shabbir Ali also pointed out that KCR did not pay tributes on the anniversaries of national leaders like Babu Jagjivan Ram on 5th April, Mahatma Jyothi Rao Phule on April 11, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on November 11 and Pandit Jawarlal Nehru on November 14 last.

“KCR had broken the tradition of paying floral tributes to national heroes which exposes his megalomaniac nature of KCR and his dictatorial and anti-democratic nature,” he alleged.

The Congress leader also described KCR as “a frog in the well” which believes in his own supremacy.

He has not fulfilled any of his poll promises like three acres of land to landless dalits, Dalit to be first CM of Telangana, two bed room Houses to SC/STs, Ambedkar Statue of 175 feet at Hyderabad, Ambedkar Bhawan, Komaram Beem Bhavan, Islamic Cultural Center, Christian Bhavan etc., All of these promises are only on paper even after 4 years of TRS government, he said.
