TS Govt seeks steel on old rates for 2BHK scheme

Hyderabad: Special Chief Secretary (Housing) Chithra Ramachandran appealed to all the manufacturers of the Steel Industries to supply steel on the old rates for the construction of double bed room houses for poor and needy which is the innovative programme taken up by the government for benefiting the poor providing them with double bed room houses.

Commissioner, Sunil Kumar, Director, Mines held a meeting with the owners of the iron manufacturers at Housing Corporation Office, Himayathnagar today.

Earlier the manufacturers of the steel industries given a representation to the Govt., to enhance the rates of the steel which have been increased tremendously in this connection a meeting has been conveyed by the Special Chief Secretary and directed the manufacturers to supply the steel at old rates as instructed the manufacturers have agreed to supply the steel at the old rates at Rs. 43,000 per ton as per the orders given by the Govt., before 15th April.

Ministers K.T. Rama Rao along with Indrakaran Reddy held a meeting with the Iron manufacturers in the month of March where the manufacturers have agreed to supply the steel at Rs. 9,440/- per ton less than that of a market value.

But it has been observed that the manufacturers are not able to supply sufficient steel needed in time due to various reasons and requested the Govt., to enhance Rs. 3000 to 5000 more than that of the existing rates.

In this contest, the Special Chief Secretary assured them that a decision will be taken in this regard very soon and directed the manufacturers to coordinate with the Nodal Officers and also Commercial Tax officials for taking up the construction in a more appropriate way to complete in the time bound frame.
