GHMC on alert as Met Dept predicts more rainfall

Hyderabad: GHMC Incharge Commissioner Bharathi Holikeri informed that the corporation has been kept on alert in view of heavy rainfall warning with winds issued by the Metrological Department for the next 4-5 days.

He directed all the emergency teams, Vigilance & Disaster Management wing, all ZCs, DCs, to be alert and to take up all precautionary measures to tackle the emergency situation.

Speaking to media persons at GHMC Head Office on Friday, the Commissioner informed that during heavy downpour on Thursday as many as 138 water stagnation points were identified and cleared. A total of 131 trees have fallen and the emergency teams have cleared them immediately.

Directions are also been given to the advertising agencies to take up precautionary measures for unipoles, hoardings, etc., to prevent any untoward incidents.

The Commissioner also directed the GHMC staff to take up the emergency works like water stagnation, manhole problems etc., on priority basis and be alert for taking up such works immediately as and when situation arises. (INN)
