Hyderabad: The Telangana Government on Saturday set up Maneru Riverfront Development Corporation Limited, a special purpose vehicle to take up the development and beautification of Maneru river front at Lower Maneru Dam, Karimnagar.
As per the orders issued by the Principal Secretary Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar today, the project components include embankment constructions on both the sides of river along the entire stretch, retention of water in the river all round the year, reclamation of nearly 100 hectares of land, development of public gardens, two level public promenades, walkways and cycle tracks,
development of four lane roads on either side of the river, development of residential and commercial activities, sports facilities and recreational activities.
The Maneru Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL) will have the Chief Secretary as Chairman while the Principal Secretary MAUD would be the Managing Director. Principal Secretary Finance, Metropolitan Commissioner HMDA, MD Tourism Development Corporation, District Collector, Karimnagar District, Commissioner of Police Karimanagar, Commissioner Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, Engineer-in-chief I&CAD and Director town and country planning are the directors of MRDCL.
The MRDCL will act as a nodal agency for preparation and execution of comprehensive plan for Maneru Riverfront Development and will monitor and coordinate the activities of various departments involved in the development of river front. (INN)
