TITA extends INR 2.24 lakh to students for higher studies

Basara: Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) has come to the rescue of 19 poor students who had passed out from IIIT-Basara and wanted to pursue a course from for National Academy for Construction (NAC), with a financial assistance to the tune of Rs 2.24 lakh.

TITA’s action within the 24 hours of bringing to notice the plight of these students is truly laudable, said, Telangana Planning Commission Vice-Chairman S Niranjan Reddy.

Not stopping just there, TITA has taken a further step by adopting these students taking the responsibility of handholding them to ensure higher studies and help fulfil their dreams.

These students were required to pay Rs 10,800 to pursue a course at NAC and due to the poor financial background, they were to miss the opportunity.

During TITA team’s visit to the incubation centre at IIIT Basara, the difficulties faced by these students and their families was brought to the association’s notice.

TITA quickly took up the cause and raised Rs 2.24 lakh through its members, both in Hyderabad and from across the world, within just one day.

This move has made it now possible for the students to pursue the NAC course. TITA members also took a decision to adopt these students and help them financially for future academic needs.

The Telangana Planning Commission Vice-Chairman had handed over the cheques to IIIT Basara’s Dean M Sainath in a programme held at the institute on Wednesday.

Niranjan Reddy noted that TITA members did not keep themselves restricted with their IT jobs, but have taken an impact decision and raised funds to bring light into the lives of under-privileged students who would have other deprived of earning higher studies.

IIIT faculty shared their joy saying that they anticipated that TITA could support for few students but were pleasantly surprised when the help came for all the 19 students.

TITA president Sundeep Kumar Makthala said the association which took an active part in achieving the Statehood for Telangana is actively taking role in the capacity building for the State in every sphere.

TITA has taken steps in the areas of digital literacy setting a benchmark by the State, nationally.

He assured that TITA team will repeat the efforts that its members have taken with the 19 students anytime in future to support deserving students financially or through other means.

TITA advisor L K Sangameshwar Rao, members Lakshminarayana, Shivashankar Bhaskar, Manish and Chaitanya took part at the programme at IIIT-Basara. (INN)
