Political parties asked to follow ECI instructions

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner and Hyderabad District Electoral Officer M. Dana Kishore has appealed all the political parties and citizens to follow the instructions given by the Election Commission of India with regard to model code of conduct.

The DEO said that after the Election Notification certain guidelines have been issued by the Election Commission of India that no government property should have any kind of wall paintings, posters, flexies, hoardings, arches and various other communication channels of any political party.

He said as per the guidelines, the GHMC has already initiated an action and removed 80% of posters, flexies, hoardings etc., by deploying all the 18,000 sanitation workers during the last two days.

DEO Dana Kishore, Addl. Commissioner Chauhan, Joint Collector Ravi, Hyderabad District and Incharge of Model Code Conduct Officer along with R.O.s, senior officials of Excise, Revenue, Income Tax, ZCs, AMOHs conducted a review meeting how to deal the process while working in connection with Election work as per the guidelines of ECI today at GHMC Head Office.

The DEO requested all the Heads of the Departments to coordinate with their counterparts to remove all the above said publicity materials from the government properties on priority and there are specific instructions have been specified for the action to be initiated within 24, 48 and 72 hours duly sending the report to the Election Commission about the action taken during the period.

The DEO said that it has been decided in the meeting a Nodal Teams have been deployed in each Assembly Constituency in coordination with the Returning Officers, Tahsildars etc., to look after the ongoing process of the Model Code of Conduct.

The DEO requested the Political Parties not to give any scope of inconvenience to the property owners, Citizens while taking up election publicity campaign and to strictly follow the rules pertaining to model code of conduct.

Dana Kishore appealed the Private Property Owners / Citizens that if any political parties approaches to them for displaying banners, hoardings etc., on the private property buildings they must obtain the permission from the owners for displaying the same.

If not as per the defacement of the act the officials will removed the above said material as per the rules specified there in.

The DEO instructed all the ROs to conduct the similar meeting in the evening with all the concerned heads to have a proper coordination and also with political parties etc., to create awareness about the model code of conduct process.

With regard to Rallies, meetings, processions, etc necessary permissions have to be obtained before conducting from the ROs. The political parties must obtain the permission before 48 hours for conducting meetings etc.,

The ROs have been instructed to deploy three flying squads in each Assembly Constituency along with Static video Surveillance team so that the flying squads can inspect the meetings, rallies etc., to know where they have obtain permissions etc., duly recording the events in the video for the record purpose said the DEO.

The DEO further stated that every official must have a thorough knowledge of the Election process while performing the duties where certain guidelines have been clearly mentioned which has to be followed and implemented so as to derive good results, the Nomination etc.,

will be taken up in a few days all the officials must follow the instructions that how many people can accompany the contesting candidates likewise, model code of conduct rules etc., has to be taken special care while implementing the election process.
