India needs leaders like Maulana Azad to fight injustice: Fatima Nafees

The country needs people like Maulana Abul Kalam Azad to come from universities to fight against injustice and regain dignity in the society, said Fatima Nafees, the mother of missing JNU scholar Najeeb Ahmed.

Interacting with the students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in Hyderabad campus, Ms. Nafees shared the pain of losing a bright son while also expressing hope for better future of the student community in this country.

The program #StandAgainstHate was organized by the students body of MANUU at Tea Point in the campus today. About 200 students joined to listen to Najeeb’s mother.

Speaking on the occasion, former president of MANUU Student Union Attaullah Niazi lashed out at the unfair and unjust treatment of the students by the ruling government.

“The students will unite and throw out the BJP government in the coming election,” asserted Niazi. He regretted the way the BJP government sided with the convicts of the Kathua rape case.

Laeeq Ahmed Khan, former national secretary of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), said: “Thousands of Najeebs will rise in India as the mothers like Fathima Nafees do not fear for their students being in National Universities.”

MANUU Student Union vice president Mustafiz Sharique said that the courage of Najeeb’s mother was an inspiration to all the lower class students who come to the National Universities for their studies.

Bavajan, a MANUU alumnus, also addressed the students on the occasion and said that the government would not return to power and the injustices made on the citizens would haunt them.
