SAFA organizes Women’s Day Celebrations

Hyderabad: Groomed and encouraged by SAFA, women entrepreneurs, trained and skilled women from across the city have gathered to celebrate the Women’s Day and exchange the knowledge.

As part of their annual convergence meeting, members of SAFA-a women empowerment NGO, congratulated each other and shared their experiences on this occasion. The celebrations were held at Khaja Mansion Function Hall which was attended by dozens of SAFA beneficiaries, their families and successful entrepreneurs.

Trainers, beneficiaries, entrepreneurs, and skilled women- all supported and groomed by SAFA have attended the event and exchanged their experiences. They have been part of several developmental and skill development programs which are directly linked with either employment or income generation.

SAFA CEO and Founder Rubina Mazher on this occasion said that in the coming years they were looking to work in Healthcare, Education, Livelihoods and government entitlements.

“Our efforts remain to make the government entitlements accessible to people living in the slums. It will be great that men and women living in slums are able to access the government services”, she said.

Entrepreneurs Ms Kalyani, Ms Zaheda, Ms Shaheda and Ms Mumtaz shared their experiences and ideas with the members and said that women can become successful entrepreneurs and can support the families and community.

Explaining about the programs being taken up by the SAFA, Program Manager Naqui Ali said that Skill Training, Food Processing and Entrepreneurship support system were some of the major initiatives of SAFA.

He said that several teams have been made as per the skill sets and nature of work among the trained women in their group. There are 9 Centres of SAFA functioning across the city, mostly in slums of which 4 are dedicated for youth.

He further said that yearly 3000 women are trained in different skills, mainly in Tailoring and most of the projects are linked to CSR programs of different companies.

Several teams like Udaan, Raftaar, Jugnoo, Mehendi Artist Group have been formed to facilitate the women function. Roshni Club is formed for capacity building training of women members of SAFA, he added.
