Top officials discuss Draft Agriculture Policy

Hyderabad: Interventions by government through agriculture policy is an important process in the agriculture development of the state. Intervention itself is not an objective but is an instrument to achieve overall objectives of the state to fulfil aspirations of the people.

Telangana State has already launched several schemes for the growth of agriculture and benefit of farmers. The objective of the proposed policy is to increase profitability rather than just productivity which would lead to improvement of farmers’ income.

Centre for Good Governance (CGG) has been assigned the task of formulating a draft Agriculture Policy of Telangana State.

A review meeting on finalization of Draft Agriculture Policy of Telangana State was held on Saturday in the office of APC & Principal Secretary (Agriculture & Cooperation). Among the officers who attended the meeting were Dr. Keshavulu, Director, TSSOCA, Dr. Jagadish, Director (Research) PJTSAU, U.N.N.Maiya, General Manager, SBI, Dr. Bhagwan, Director (Research) SKLSHU, Devi Prasad J, Director (AMRG), CGG, Dr. Padmaja, and Kiran Kumar G of CGG and officials of Agriculture and Horticulture departments.

The participants provided their inputs on various aspects of the draft policy. It was decided that the action plan would be prepared in the meeting proposed at a later date involving all the major stakeholder departments and agencies. (INN)
