National Photography Convention begins at Warangal

Hyderabad: The 4-day National Photography Convention, being organised by Telangana Photography Akademi in association with Dept of Language and Culture and Telangana Tourism, began at Warangal on Sunday.

The convention was inaugurated by Tourism Dept Secretary B. Venkatesham by lightening the lamp at Hotel Haritha Kakatiya, Warangal. Warangal Urban Collector Prashanth J Patil also attended the meeting as the Guest of Honor. Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary told the delegates the importance of Photography in promoting the Heritage Culture, and the Temples of Warangal.

He further reiterated that the Tourism department is putting all efforts to bring the Kakatiya Dynasty on world map and requested the photographers to capture the glory of Warangal heritage and poularise the.

He said that the Warangal was having all the infrastructure to host big seminars and conventions and the tourism department is having wonderful facilities to support that. He congratulated the Telangana Photography Akademi for organising such a big event and promised all support.

Prashant Patil said that the Warangal was culturally very rich and expects such events take place often to promote photography. He wants sum photography institutes may be started at Warangal to train enthusiastic persons.

Vishwender Reddy Kommidi, Secretary of Telangana Photography Akademi while thanking the secretary and the collector, said the Akademi is always in the forefront to coordinate such initiatives of the government to promote the Art of Photography.

Photography exhibitions of Kusuma Prabhakar, Madhu Gopal and Arvind Arya Pakide were inaugurated by the Secretary. Around 100 delegates of senior photographers from all parts of the country and abroad participated in the convention. The convention will conclude on 20th March.

As part of the convention the delegates are going to visit Ramappa, fort and other important heritage sites in around Warangal and capture their glory.

Later on a touring exhibition will be made with the works of delegates and a book will also be brought out. The best photographers will be awarded with gold silver bronze medals by the Akademi. (INN)
