CM KCR holds review meeting on Kaleshwaram project

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao instructed the officials concerned to prepare an integrated plan of action to complete the construction and maintenance of barrages and pump houses under Kaleshwaram Project.

The Chief Minister instructed the officials to construct housing quarters for the engineering staff and other staff at camp sites of the projects. CM directed the officials to construct housing quarters for the employees at the sub-stations, Police camp at the Medigadda barrage, two helipads at each barrage.

KCR held a review meeting on the progress of construction of Kaleswaram project on Tuesday at Pragathi Bhavan. Chief Secretary SK Joshi, MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha, CMO secretary Smita Sabarwal, Advisor, Irrigation Department Penta Reddy, ENC Hareram, OSD Sridhar Desh Pande and others participated.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to construct watch Tower, staff housing quarters at the maximum height to the HFL level to shield from rampant river flow and high flood level. He advised the officials to consider the HFL level after the completion of the projects.

He inquired about the progress of the construction of canals for filling of water in the ponds. Officers appraised the CM about the plan of installing 3000 conduits for every canal in order to fill the chain tanks. He said that earlier the farmers were forced to fill their ponds by destroying the conduits.

At present that is not the situation, the government itself is installing conduits. Water from projects and water form rains will be filled in the ponds and will increase the level of ground water. (INN)
