CM’s speech on TS Formation Day totally disappointing: Shabbir

Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir has strongly condemned Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for not including key issues in his speech on the occasion of 6th anniversary of Telangana State formation.

Addressing a press conference, along with MLC T. Jeevan Reddy, at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday, Shabbir Ali said that people had expected KCR to speak about his achievements during the last five years on the occasion of TS Formation Day.

However, he said except for making a mention of power and Aasra pension, the Chief Minister did not speak about any other major issue. He said the much hyped Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha have completely failed. Despite spending hundreds of crores, both the schemes have only benefited the contractors. Neither farmers got any help from Mission Kakatiya, nor did people get tap water under Mission Bhagiratha.

Shabbir Ali demanded that the TRS Government issue a White Paper on the unemployment scenario in the State. He said there were more than 2.5 lakh vacancies in the State Government and despite making promises on the floor of Assembly multiple times, KCR has failed to fill at least one lakh jobs in the last five years.

“KCR and all TRS leaders have gone on silent mode with regard to jobs. More than 18.25 lakh eligible educated youth have registered themselves with the Telangana State Public Service Commission and still waiting for recruitments. But KCR has spent all five years in providing political jobs to his family members,” he said.

He demanded that the State Government specify a deadline for starting the promised unemployment allowance for jobless youth in the State.

The Congress leader strongly condemned KCR for not even expressing condolences over the suicide committed by several intermediate students due to errors in valuation process. He said that the Chief Minister should have given an assurance that such mistakes would not be repeated in future and the students must not take any extreme steps. KCR should’ve expressed sympathies with the parents of students who committed suicide.

However, the Chief Minister considered suicide of students as a non-issue and ignored it, he said.

Shabbir Ali questioned the silence of KCR on the issue of 12% Muslim reservation. He said KCR, on April 19, 2014, had promised to implement 12% reservation in jobs and education for Muslims in Telangana within four months after coming to power.

But nothing has done although KCR completed 60 months in power today. Similarly, he said there was no clarity on when poor homeless people would get their promised double bed room houses. He said not even 5% of about 2.75 lakh sanctioned houses have been delivered.

The Congress leader said that the Law & Order situation has worsened across the State with brutal murders happening on main roads in broad day light and in full public view. He said there was no fear of law among criminals while the ruling party is using police to suppress or harass political opponents. He said that the entire drugs case has been hushed up.

Similarly, there is not a single case which was investigated with seriousness and conviction. After initially flare up, all high profile cases were given a silent burial, he said.

Shabbir Ali said that the Chief Minister must function with total clarity and transparency in order to ensure the prosperity and growth of Telangana during the next five years. (INN)
