Shabbir Ali asks KCR to withdraw proposed hike in RTC, power tariff

Hyderabad, INN: Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has strongly condemned TRS Government for the proposed hike in RTC fares and power tariff.

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Shabbir Ali accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of mishandling both RTC and Energy Departments.

He said instead of taking measures to improve the functioning of RTC during last two years, KCR Government pushed the corporation into crisis and now it is threatening to close it down.

“KCR is finding over a dozen reasons to justify the proposed hike in RTC tariff. Similar, TRS Government has failed to generate a single MW of additional power in the last two years. But now it has cleared hike in power tariff. Congress party will launch a mass agitation against the proposed hikes,” he said.

Reminding KCR of speech that he delivered at HICC on 2nd June on second anniversary of Telangana Formation Day, Deputy CLP leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said why a State which is boasting itself of being revenue surplus and planning to take its annual budget to Rs. 5 lakh crore in next three years wants to burden the common man with hikes in RTC and power tariffs.
