Centre for Cyber Security and Cyber Law inaugurated in Osmania University

Hyderabad: Osmania University Vice Chancellor Prof. S. Ramachandram inaugurated the Center for Cyber Security and Cyber Law at Technology Development Center, University College of Engineering, Osmania University on Monday.

The Center is established as Center of Excellence under MHRD RUSA 2.0.

Osmania University is establishing this Centre with an objective to train, develop and strengthen the practical applications of cyber security, cyber threat detection and mitigation. The OU centre will also foster extensive research to discover ground breaking solutions and publish the research reports.

Osmania University has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cyber Security Centre of Excellence, Telangana (CoE). OU is collaborating with Cyber Security Centre of Excellence as an official industry partner and advisor for Cyber Security and Privacy.

The CoE will help in the setup of operations, governance of this Centre and in jointly conducting workshops, trainings, events, conferences on Cyber Security and Privacy. Furthermore, OU and the CoE shall engage in conducting research and development in Cyber Security and Privacy.

Cyber Security Centre of Excellence is a joint initiative of the Government of Telangana and Data Security Council of India (DSCI). The CoE endeavours to build a sustainable Cyber Security and privacy industry development.

The CoE will create a conducive cyber security ecosystem which nurtures innovation, entrepreneurship and capability building through the five pillars – Industry, Government, Academia and R&D Centres, user groups and incubators & accelerators. CoE engages with the aforementioned pillars to make the state of Telangana a torch bearer for cyber Security products and services.

DSCI is a not-for-profit, industry body on data protection in India, setup by NASSCOM®, committed to making the cyberspace safe, secure and trusted by establishing best practices, standards and initiatives in cyber security and privacy.

OU Registrar Prof. Ch Gopal Reddy and Shriram Birudavolu, CEO, Security Center for Excellence, Telangana State signed the MOU.

OSD to Vice Chancellor, Prof. Krishna Rao, Prof. Shyamala, Director, Center for Cyber Security and Cyber Law, Prof. Kumar, Principal Engineering College, and other officials of the University and Faculty members were present for both the events. (INN)
