Governor inaugurates WIPS 30th National Meet celebrations

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday inaugurated the 30th National Meet & Annual Day celebrations of Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) which was held on the theme “Power to Transform – Decision to Action”.

While inaugurating the program, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said, “Women are emerging as the drivers of the nation’s economic growth and their economic empowerment is essential to boost national development”. She commended the role of forum like WIPS in empowering women employees in PSEs.

She said positive attitude makes all the difference in performing a task against all odds and women should inculcate it in their lives. She said that education and continuous skill enhancement is the foundation for women empowerment.

She said women facing challenges and difficulties in their regular life and they are overcoming, whenever women are giving opportunities they are utilising it well. From mother to officer, we, women fit in every role, women transform easily. The governor appreciated the women employees in part of development of Public sector Enterprises.

The governor stressed on the need of mental and physical health. She called upon the women employees to practise yoga not only to tone the body, but also to infuse positive energy.

Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE, in his address apprised about various steps taken by SCOPE to enhance the capabilities of working women in PSEs.

He pointed out that there is a growing realization around the world that increases in women participation can bring positive impact to the global economy.

The WIPS annual conventions have largely examined gender developments in the central public sector undertakings (CPSUs) from the perspective of organizational / institutional initiatives and their consequences. These deliberations have helped in addressing diversity and inclusion of women in CPSU’s.

The convention will seek reappraisal of the overall development of women at the intersection of reciprocal roles and responsibilities of the two key stakeholders namely, the women themselves and the employee organizations/institutions (CPSUs).

This National Convention is attended by about 700 WIPS delegates working in CPSU’s across India.

Kirti Tiwari, President APEX WIPS; Sanchita Banerjee, President APEX WIPS Mallika S Shetty, VP APEX WIPS and Anju Gupta, General Secretary APEX WIPS also addressed the inaugural session.

The Governor released WIPS souvenir and presented WIPS Awards for outstanding Women Activities in CPSU’s & Outstanding women employees (both executives & Non-executives). (INN)
