Muslim religious leaders meet CM, offer support to prevent Covid-19

Hyderabad: A delegation of Muslim religious leaders and MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi called on Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan on Thursday and offered their full support to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in Telangana State.

Speaking to media persons later, Asaduddin Owaisi informed that the religious leaders have decided that no public meetings would be held on Shab-e-Meraj, one of the three pious nights for Muslims, falling on March 22 and all Muslims have been appealed to pray at their houses.

Further, he said that the Friday prayers in mosques all across Telangana State would be very short. He said all Muslims are being requested to come to the mosques after perform Ablution (Wuzu) at their house and Juma Khutba and prayers would be completed in few minutes time.

Muslim leaders also thanked the Chief Minister for passing the resolution against CAA, NPR and NRC in the State Assembly.

According to United Muslim Front chairman Raheemudin Ansari the meeting lasted for about one-and-a-half hour during which CM KCR gave an assurance that necessary steps would be taken to stop the process for National Population Register (NPR) in the State.

He also informed that he was planning to convene a meeting with like-minded Chief Ministers of others States in Hyderabad to discuss CAA, NPR and NRC.

Jamat-e-Islami Telangana President Hamed Mohammed Khan, Jamiatul Ulema-e-Hind president Hafiz Peer Shabbir, Rector of Jamia Nizamia Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, economist Amirullah Khan and other leaders were part of the delegation. (INN)
