Plantation drive on World Environment Day

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) organized a plantation drive on the occasion of World Environment Day. Prof. SM Rahmatullah, Vice Chancellor I/c and Prof. Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood, Registrar I/c planted trees in the campus on June 5.

On the occasion while addressing, Prof. SM Rahmatullah said that in every three seconds, forests equal to one complete football field are being cut down in the world. This act is causing massive damage to the environment resulting in increased global warming. In such a situation, it is the responsibility of every citizen to plant trees and take care of them, he advised.

Prof. Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood said World Environment Day is being observed since 1974 with the aim to make people aware of the environment so that they can realize their responsibilities towards planting trees. The program was attended by teachers and staff. The program was organized with all precautionary measures, maintaining social distance and wearing masks in view of COVID-19.
