Students witness major display of Ocean instruments and labs at INCOIS ‘Open Day’

Hyderabad: The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services(MoES-INCOIS, Hyderabad)observed ‘Open Day’ on Friday. The event was organized as a preamble of India International Science Festival (IISF)-2021, which is to be held at NCPOR, Goa during 10-13 Dec.

During this, about 250 high school and college students along with teachers and parents, as well as other citizens visited the organization within a span of a few hours. This was the first such public event since the pandemic and the INCOIS team was humbled with the enthusiastic response. The visitors were introduced to INCOIS through a short documentary followed by visits of various laboratories and ocean instruments.

“This visit has made me sure that I want to pursue a career in ocean science”, quipped  Ananya, a class IX student visitor. Students were also seen making video of their visit which they intend to submit to INCOIS as Video blog (Vlog) entries. The videos will be submitted to INCOIS website www.incois.gov.in.The activities revolved around the theme of IISF 2021 i.e. ‘Celebrating Creativity in Science’ as well as the five pillars of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ viz. (i) Freedom Struggle; (ii) Ideas@75; (iii) Achievements@75; (iv) Actions@75; and (v) Resolve@75. The Director, INCOIS praised work put together by INCOIS colleagues Rahman, Aneesh, Prerna, Nimit, Nagoji, Kiran and their team members. Echoing their feelings he also said that INCOIS looks forward to offer more such opportunities to the fellow-citizens. (INN)
