Asha workers stage protest in Shamshabad

Hyderabad: Asha Workers in Shamshabad staged a protest on Monday against the increased work burden. Asha Workers in Pedda Shapur PHC staged a sit-in program and demanded the state government increase their remuneration and decrease the work burden.District secretary of Asha Workers Sunitha said that health department officials should stop burdening them with too many responsibilities. “We are told to conduct checkups of men and boys. How can a lady conduct the check-ups of men? It is not acceptable,” she said while expressing her anger. She said that Asha Workers in the area would fight back against such instructions. (INN)
