Telangana Govt increases wages for Mid-Day Meal workers

Hyderabad: In line with Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s promise, the Telangana government has announced an increase in the honorarium for mid-day meal workers.

A memo has been released stating that the cook and assistant honorarium, previously at Rs. 1,000, will now be increased to Rs. 3,000 per month.

Previously, Rs. 600 out of Rs. 1,000 honorarium was funded by the Central Government and Rs. 400 was State’s contribution. However, the State’s contribution has now been raised by Rs. 2,400, resulting in a total honorarium of Rs. 3,000.The revised payments will benefit 54,201 mid-day meal cooks and assistants across the Telangana state. (INN)
