MANUU bags prestigious National Water Award

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) bags the prestigious 4th National Water Award 2022 in Category of Best Institution for Campus Usage for Water Management. MANUU got second prize in recognition of the commendable efforts in the area of water conservation.

Shri. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Cabinet Minister for Jal Shakti and Shri. Bishweshwar Tudu, Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Government of India handed over the award to Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor in a ceremony held on June 17, 2023 at Vigyan Bhawan New Delhi.

The Award Function was inaugurated by Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Honorable Vice President of India.

Prof. Shakeel Ahmed, Chairman, Jal Shakti Committee, MANUU and Prof. Mohammad Fariyad, Convenor, accompanied the Vice-Chancellor in the award function.

MANUU participated for 4th National Water Awards under the category best Institution for Campus Usage and a team from the Ministry of Jal Shakti, visited MANUU on February 13, 2023 for ‘ground truthing’.

MANUU’s Jal Shakti Abhiyan committee thanked and congratulated each and every Member of the MANUU Family.

As part of the ongoing nationwide drive to realize the Government’s vision of a ‘Jal Samridh Bharat’ or ‘Water Prosperous India’, the National Water Awards focus on encouraging the good work and efforts made by various individuals and organizations. It seeks to create awareness among people about the importance of water and motivate them to adopt best water use practices.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti started a comprehensive campaign to spread awareness about water management and water conservation on a national level. With the objective of encouraging various stakeholders towards adopting a holistic approach towards water resources management in the country, an integrated National Water Award was instituted in 2018. In the year 2022, 4th National Water Awards were launched on 30th July, 2022 on Rashtriya Puraskar Portal of Ministry of Home Affairs. A total of 868 applications were received and ground truthing of the shortlisted applications was carried out by the Central Water Commission and Central Ground Water Board after which 41 winners, including joint winners covering all 11 categories were  selected for awards.
