JIH to ‘protect Idea of India’, promote peace

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) was trying to involve all humanity-friendly people on one platform so as to protect ‘Idea of India’, said Rashaduddin, President of Hyderabad Chapter of JIH.

Addressing professionals in an event yesterday in Hyderabad, he underlined the fact that the Constitution of India guarantees right to speech, right to religious freedom, the spirit of which were seeing a threat in the prevailing conditions of our country.

Rashaduddin emphasized on the importance of peace, equality and justice in the overall development of any society.

Specific communities are being targeted. Environment of intolerance is developing. In this scenario, unified efforts by all peace and justice loving people of the society are needed, speakers at the event noted.

Speaking to the professionals, Bangalore-based Urologist Dr Saad Belgami said incidents of violence on dalits, weaker sections and minorities were seeing a steep increase.

Targeting of specific communities and subjecting them to atrocities is sending wrong signals globally and may impact the investments of foreign companies in the country, consequently derailing the development process of our country,” Dr Saad noted.

“Such a situation calls for unified efforts by all peace and justice loving people of the society to stand up in solidarity so that the conditions of our country can be stopped from further getting degraded,” the Karnataka JIH leader added.

Participants at the event, organized by JIH Hyderabad Chapter, echoed that India is a home to multiple cultures, castes and communities. Plurality is the essence of the country and it’s the responsibility of each and every citizen of the country to uphold its secular and democratic credentials.

Organized as part of national “Peace and Humanity Campaign” of JIH, the Sunday event saw a good number of professionals, primarily from minority community, participating in it.

In addition, the Hyderabad chapter of JIH planned to conduct an inter-community dialogue program coming Sunday and felicitate individuals who are contributing their bit in promoting plural ethos of the nation.
