Tupakulagudem project works will be taken up soon: Harish Rao

Warangal: Irrigation minister T Harish Rao said that the state government would take up the works of Tupakulagudem project once the Godavari river water recedes.

Speaking at a review meeting at the district collectorate in Warangal on Friday along with Deputy CM Kadiam Srihari, Harish Rao said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed the irrigation department to complete the works of the project within two years.

Harish Rao appealed the MLAs to cooperate with the administration in acquiring land for the project at Devadula. He directed the officials of revenue and irrigation departments to speed up the process of land acquisition for the project.

The minister said that the Devadula project would provide 50 TMC of water in 18 months.

He said that the government was taking up the works of four projects in Mahbubnagar on war-footing basis to ensure enough irrigation facilities for the drought hit-districts.

He said that the state government has initiated the Tupakulagudem project after witnessing the benefits of Devadula, SRSP projects.

Asserting that the TRS government was making all efforts to help the farmers of the state, Harish Rao said that Rs 25,000 crore were allocated for the irrigation sector in the state budget.

He said that the Chief Minister has made it clear that the state should use every drop of water it gets. The Chief Minister is reviewing the progress of irrigation works at regular intervals, he informed. (INN)
