SCR GM undertakes intensive cleanliness drive at Secunderabad Rly Stn

Hyderabad: South Central Railway General Manager Ravindra Gupta undertook intensive cleanliness drive and inspection of Secunderabad Railway Station on Sunday.

Initiating the Swachh Station (Clean Station) drive as part of Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat-Swachhta Saptah Shri Ravindra Gupta called upon the participation of Rail Users, NGOs, Charitable Institutions, Scouts & Guides, Unions in a big way for maintaining cleanliness of railway stations and Trains.

Ashesh Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division and other senior railway officials also participated in the drive.

The General Manager, along with voluntary organisations created awareness on ‘fill the dustbin’ and ‘donate the dustbin’ at the station.

A skit by railway employees on maintenance of cleanliness at station and in trains has been performed to create awareness among the rail users.

The General Manager after inspecting the standards of cleaning equipments being used at this station also undertook cleaning of platform with battery driven cleaning car and hand held cleaning machine.

Later, Ravindra Gupta inspected the cleanliness aspect in the areas of foot over bridge, toilets, AC dormitories, retiring rooms, waiting halls, cloak room, water troughs, circulating area, concourse, parking area in the station.

Further, the General Manager also boarded the Kakinada Port-Bhavanagar Express train on platform no.1 and inspected the cleanliness and hygiene of toilets, coaches and checked the availability of water.

He also interacted with the onboard passengers and enquired about the amenities and facilities in trains.

The General Manager undertook thorough check of IRCTC Food Plaza on Platform No.1 at the station and inspected the quality and quantity of the food being served to the rail users.

He instructed the officials to conduct regular quality and quantity checks and impose penalties on the erring food stalls if they deviate from the approved standards.

During the course of inspection near general booking area, General Manager interacted with passengers and advised them to utilise the paperless mobile ticketing app like UTS on Mobile App, available on Indian Railways to purchase unreserved tickets which will save the time and hardship to the esteemed rail users.

Ravindra Gupta in his interaction with the media detailed about the Swachhta Saptah being carried out throughout the Zone from 17th to 25th September.

He also informed that sustained efforts will be made involving all stakeholders to upkeep the cleanliness and hygiene at stations and in trains all over the Zone. (INN)
