Congress leaders inspect Yellampalli, Mid-Manair

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, former minister Ponnala Laxmaiah, MLA T Jeevan Reddy and others visited Yellampalli Project and Mid Manair Dam on Wednesday.

The Congress leaders inspected the Yellampalli Project site in Ramagundam mandal and later visited the MMD breach site in Manwada village.

Speaking to the media persons after their visit to the two projects, the TPCC chief said that former Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had laid foundation stone to the Yellampalli project keeping in mind the future needs of the region.

He said that the Congress government had completed a major portion of the project works. He accused the TRS of neglecting the works on Mid Manair Dam which resulted in breach of the dam.

Congress MLA Jeevan Reddy said that the TRS government was delaying the Yellampalli project works only with the fear that the credit for the works would go to the Congress party.

He demanded that the government provide irrigation to 2.2 lakh acres of land through house pumps irrespective of the government completing the project work on time.

The Congress leaders inspected the damages to the dam and also damaged crops in the low lying areas. The Congress team later visited the relief and rehabilitation colonies in Neelojipalli and Kodurupaka villages and interacted with project oustees. (INN)
