Hyderabad: Supreme Court on Wednesday said that it will fix a date in case Telangana State Legislative Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudan Chary failed to take a decision on the petition filed against the MLAs who defected to the ruling party before November 8.
Reacting to a petition filed by Congress Whip Sampath Kumar, the Supreme Court directed the Speaker to take a decision on the defectors by November 8.
Congress is of the opinion that the Apex Court will disqualify the defected MLAs and this would lead to by-elections in those constituencies.
Party leaders have exuded confidence that the party will perform well in case of disqualification of the defected MLAs and subsequent by-polls. (INN)
