Harish Rao launches Yellampally Project stage-2

Rajanna Sircilla: Minister for Irrigation Harish Rao inaugurated the Sripada Yellampalli Project Stage-2 here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the project will be of immense help to the farmers of the region who were facing severe crisis due to lack of irrigation facilities.

The minister slammed the Congress government which started the project as part of the Jalayagnam but ignored it later. He said that while projects like Potireddy which was started under Jalayagnam was completed, those under Telangana were ignored.

He accused the Congress of being responsible for the farm crisis being in Telangana due to Congress government’s negligence over the years.

Harish Rao said that the TRS government pursued the works related to Yellampalli project seriously and it was due to KCR’s commitment that the Yellampalli has enough water now.

He said that the government had convened 20 meetings and completed the construction of Rayapatnam bridge.

Stating that the TRS government was committed to the welfare of farmers, the minister said that the state government allocated Rs 25,000 crore for irrigation under the state budget.

He said that the Kaleshwaram project would be linked with Yellampalli. He said that the Yellampally project would provide irrigation to 1.65 lakh acres.

He said that the farmers who parted with the lands for projects would be given enough compensation. (INN)
