Hyderabad: The Centre on Wednesday announced that there would be no delimitation of Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana till 2026.
According to the AP Reorganisation Act-2014, Assembly constituencies in AP and TS can be increased from 175 and 119 to 225 and 153 respectively.
Replying to TD MP T.G.Venkatesh’s question on the issue, Minister of State for Home, Hans Raj Ahir made it clear that delimitation is not possible till 2026.
Sources say, the decision will be huge set back to ruling TRS and TD which have been admitting leaders from other parties to their party fold in their respective states promising the new entrants to accommodate them in the new Assembly constituencies. (INN)
