TS Govt signs pact with cement companies for housing scheme

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government on Thursday entered into agreement with the cement companies who agreed to supply cement at Rs 230 per bag to state to construct houses under double-bed room housing scheme.

State housing minister A Indrakaran Reddy said that the Telangana State Housing Corporation Limited has entered into memorandum of understanding (MoU) with 32 cement companies for the supply of cement at Rs 230 per bag.

The state government needs 27.31 lakh metric tonnes of cement to construct double-bed room homes for the weaker sections.

It may be recalled that the state government had sanctioned 2,72,596 houses for the years 2015-16 and 2016-17 to the house-less poor in the state. (INN)
