TS cabinet approves new Land Acquisition Bill, approves pvt universities

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Cabinet has approved the bill for Land Acquisition and approved the establishment of private universities in the State.

According to sources, the bills were given a nod by the State Cabinet which met at the State Secretariat on Saturday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.

During its three-hour long meeting, the cabinet held detailed discussions on various issues and took some important decisions. It also discussed the strategy for winter session of Legislative Assembly beginning from December 16.

The Land Acquisition Bill got the cabinet nod and it would be presented in the Assembly in the forthcoming winter session. The cabinet has also decided to set up a special cell in Finance Department to monitor the implementation of SC, ST Sub-Plan.

The cabinet has also decided to approach the Supreme Court against the verdict of Krishna Tribunal. The cabinet also approved the proposal to allow private universities in the State and decided to set up a Sub-Committee headed by Deputy CM Kadiyam Srihari to work out the modalities.

Ministers K. Tarakarama Rao, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Jagadish Reddy, Jogu Ramanna and Talasani Srinivas Yadav will be the other members of the Sub-Committee while ex-Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma will be its Advisor.

The cabinet has also given its nod for introduction of TS Wallet to promote cashless transactions.

This initiative would be monitored by a Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao with other ministers Eatala Rajender, Jagadish Reddy, Mahender Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao as members.

The Telangana Cabinet has also decided to introduce swiping machines in RTC. It also discussed conversion of Siddipet constituency into a cashless constituency. (INN)
